I took these photos in my yard. Recently I've been more appreciative of the nature around my house than usual, because spring is finally showing. The photo on the left is of a bunch of glossy deer-cabbage in our garden. I thought the shades of vivid green was beautiful, and it reminds me of my mom because she works to upkeep our garden (and her favorite color is green). The second photo is of a tree on our property that I used to climb when I was smaller. In reality the tree is pretty small, but taking it from a low angle made it seem big just as it did when I was a kid.

Up CloseThese photos were taken in my aunt and uncle's yard. Morel mushrooms have always looked so cool to me, with their rough and sort of pruny texture. The small blue flowers are all of a sudden sprinkled all over my aunt and uncle's yard and I liked getting low and up close to capture the detail of them and the grass.

I took these photos in my neighbors' small woods by my house. It was very pleasant walking and around taking pictures there. For the photo on the left, I wanted to capture small details of nature that often go unnoticed, like a few flowers by the base of a tree. I think the plants in the photo on the right might be weeds, but I liked how they made the whole ground green with no grass. I also thought their shape was cool and liked how they were "cut out". They reminded me of paper snowflakes.
I took these photos while walking my dog around the Huron river. The river is my favorite route to go on dog walks, especially on sunny days like when I was photographing. It also generally reminds me of good times there with my friends in the summer. For the photo on the right of the tree, I admired the contrast of the white flowers against the bright blue sky. It reminds me of clouds in a sky.
These photos were taken in my friend's yard. Of course, the location is important to me because it has to do with my friend and I have good memories linked to it. The photograph on the left reminds me of camping, something I love doing, because of the ferns and pine trees in the background. Ferns are also a plant I love because 1) they remind me of my mom and 2) they look cool no matter the stage of growth they are in. I appreciated how they looked tightly curled. For the left photograph, I though the oil painting filter perfectly matched the bleeding hearts because the flowers already look like they are being sort of dragged down and swirling with the hanging part, which the filter enhances. Bleeding hearts are also beautiful flowers by themselves and I liked how they were so neatly lined up and how the green leaves in the background matched their bright pink.
