CorridorLaw Quad |
DetailsThese photos were taken at the U of M law quad. I chose this location because I love the architecture. Stepping into the grassy area surrounded by buildings makes it feel almost like you're not in Ann Arbor, because the style of architecture is so different from the rest of downtown. I reminds me of Europe. Overall, the law quad is always a nice place to sit with my friends and on the day I took these photos it was graduation weekend, so it was especially nice to see everyone taking pictures in front of the beautiful buildings. |
Sunday ServiceThese photos were taken at a church near the downtown area (I don't know the name of it). I'm not religious but I always think this classic style of church architecture is pretty, especially the stain glass windows like in these pictures. The nature around this church was also very fresh and the perfect picture of spring, with the blooming magnolia tree and green all around. It was a very peaceful location. |

FuturisticThese photos taken a the U of M business school are the kind I picture when thinking "architecture"-- modern with lots of glass and metal. This location was fun to walk around in because surprisingly, I had never walked around the business buildings. I always like seeing of Ann Arbor that I've never been to before. The school was very clean looking, both the exterior and interior (where there were sleek modern furniture and room layouts). For my photos, I really like how the blueprint edit accentuated the lines of the building and how it actually looks like a drawing.

ReflectionThese photos were taken at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. I have always loved visiting this museum and spending quiet afternoons admiring art with my family. In the front of the building there used to be a big swing/statue thing that my brother and I would always play on as kids. My friends and I have sat on the steps of the museum people watching on many summer afternoons. Overall, this building holds a sentimental place in my heart. For photography, I appreciated how it had both modern and and more classic elements, as you can see in the contrast between the two straight edit pictures. Similar to the business school blueprint edit, the one for the art museum also looks like an actual drawing with all the lines.

From BelowThese photos were taken at the Gandy Dancer, a restaurant near my house. Every time I bike downtown I pass this building from above on a bridge, and I always notice and appreciate the style of red, wavy tile. I've always thought that tile is so pretty. I've never actually eaten at the restaurant so I was close to it for the first time while taking these pictures, and it was interesting to see it from different angles. It used to be a train station and it's really cool to see it "repurposed" as something very different.
